July Ecology Club - Forests and Climate Change

Date:
Wednesday, July 11, 2018 - 6:30pm to 8:30pm

This month for Ecology Club we are hosting a discussion on Climate Change be focusing on what is happneing today on Mt. Hood. From decreased snow pac to shrinking meadows we are seeing repercussions of this in real time. After we check on on some of the recent changes we'll discuss ways of mitgating the effects of climate change. For example ceasing commerical logging, since the act of logging itself is the beiggest emitter of carbon in the sate of Oregon AND removes the very trees which are storing carbon. We'll also check in on Bark's efforts getting beaver back on the mountain to help hold snow melt on the mountain longer into the summer. We'll see what other ideas we can generate too.
