In October of 2014, Bark and Oregon Wild negotiated with the BLM to remove Unit 4 from the Take 3 Timber Sale (approximately 7 acres of Riparian areas and mature forest) and not constructing 0.1 miles of planned temporary road across private land that would have been used to access Unit 4. The BLM also modifed the Take 3 Timber Sale by removing 1 acre of 96 year old timber in Unit 6 from the timber sale contract.
These 370 acres are in the Eagle Creek Watershed, and contain stands of trees up to 90 years of age. The units in section 11 overlap with the Rusty Saw sale 10 years ago.
Take Highway 224 toward Estacada. One mile past the turnoff for Highway 211 to Eagle/Sandy, take a left onto Wildcat Mt. Road. (If you reach Estacada you went too far) Travel Wildcat Mt. Road approx. 12 miles till you see Hope Lake on your left. One mile past hope Lake, and your second right past the lake is your point of entry (Please note on our last visit the road was closed due to active logging. To reach Section 11 also start on Wildcat Mt. Road, but turn right 4 miles after leaving Highway 224. Follow Eagle Fern road, which later becomes George Road, for 8 miles. Then turn right on Bissell Rd. And if you have an Oregon Gazetteer I would suggest bringing it along.
While we are unsure of the final numbers of road miles to be added to this proposal our preliminary visit showed that many roads listed on the map are non-existent at this point.
