Mt. Hood Forest Management: Past, Present, Future

Have you ever been on a hike, drive, or campout in Mt Hood National Forest and wondered why it looks the way it does? Why do some areas have smaller even-aged trees, and others have larger more mature trees? Why are some roads in good condition, while others are full of potholes? Why are there so many roads, anyway? Are we seeing more or less fires than in the past? What impacts will climate change have, and are we equipped to respond?

Join Jordan Latter, Bark’s Forest Watch Program Manager, for this class about Mt. Hood Forest Management. We’ll look back on how past forest management shaped the forest of today, review the management documents and directives that dictate current management, and discuss what forest management could look like in a warmer future.

This will be a classroom-style event at Bark HQ. Bring a pen and paper if you want to take notes.

Bark HQ is located at 351 NE 18th Avenue in Portland, Oregon. This space is wheelchair accessible and has gender neutral restrooms.
