Beaver Walk with Meg 10/12/2024

Beavers are incredible creatures. They create wetlands which sequester carbon, act as fire breaks, store and filter water and so much more. But there is so much more to know about these furry restoration partners! Come stroll around Whitaker Ponds Nature Park with Meg Waller, Bark’s Restoration Manager and resident beaver expert, and ask her all the questions you can think of.

Time: 8:ooam-1:oopm. Arrive at 6:ooam for the chance to spot beavers!

Location: Whitaker Ponds Nature Park

Bring: Rain jacket, walking shoes, binoculars, all your beaver questions!

Accessibility: Whitaker Ponds is a flat and level trail accessible by many levels of physical ability. We will be slowly walking the 1/2-mile loop trail with many stops along the way.

Transportation: The best access to the park is from the entrance at 7040 NE 47 Avenue, a quarter of a mile north of Columbia Blvd. TriMet bus #75 makes a stop at the corner of NE 47th Avenue and Columbia Blvd and visitors can walk north from there to the park entrance. Bike racks are located inside the entrance near the west pond. Parking is limited so carpool with friends if possible!

Other things to note: No dogs allowed. Minors and young children are welcome as long as they are under supervision by a guardian. Walk is rain or shine, though if the rain is very heavy, we will reschedule.
