ICYMI: On August 29th, the Forest Service released a Notice of Intent to rescind the popular 2001 Roadless Rule, a policy that protected 44 million acres of our nation’s last remaining intact landscapes from logging and road building. This kicked off a 21-day comment period that closes on September 19th.
The rescission would jeopardize nearly 2 million acres of national forestlands here in Oregon, including 118,000 acres of the most ecologically intact lands remaining in Mt. Hood National Forest. If the administration succeeds in rolling back this protection, these landscapes—and the clean water, wildlife habitat, and recreation opportunities they provide—could be irreparably harmed.
Let’s tell the Forest Service what we really think about their efforts to rescind the Roadless Rule!
