Groundtruthing Field Day
Join us for a Groundtruthing Field Day on Mt Hood! No experience required!
Bark monitors every timber sale (logging project) proposed on Mt. Hood and uses groundtruthing to document the forest conditions within the proposed project areas. This on the ground data is vital as we engage in the decision-making process and work to influence projects on Mt Hood. There are several projects that we are surveying this summer such as the South Wasco Ecosystem Resiliency Project (SE part of the NF), Nohorn Vegetation Management project (SW part of the NF), and several other smaller scale projects.
We will be navigating on foot, off trail, through the forest and across uneven terrain. For more information about what to pack, see here: www.bark-out.org/field-day-packing-list/
Meet at Gateway/NE 99th Ave. at 9 am. Make sure to meet us inside near the south entrance to the parking garage! From there we will coordinate carpooling to our survey site/secondary location. The exact survey area will be sent to you as we get closer to the date, but generally our field survey locations are 1 – 2 hours from Portland.
If you have any questions or concerns, please email Jordan at jordan@bark-out.org
