Forgotten Thin Plus Timber Sale

A commercial timber sale in this planning area was first proposed in 1996 (Forgotten Thin Timber Sale), but the analysis was never completed. In 2001, environmental analysis began on a revised proposal in the same area (Forgotten Thin Plus Commercial Thin). The environmental assessment (EA) was made available for public comment on August 20, 2003. Acting Forest Supervisor Rob Iwamoto made a decision on this thinning project on October 17, 2003. The decision was administratively appealed.1 After further review, the decision was withdrawn, to allow additional analysis and consideration based on additional public involvement; reassessment of project needs, issues, opportunities and concerns (including those raised in the appeal); and goals, standards and guidelines of Forest Plan, as amended.
