Huckleberry Enhancement

The Huckleberry Enhancement Project is a thinning timber sale aimed at encouraging huckleberry growth in historical gathering areas in Mt. Hood National Forest. This project is following up a test project and is in partnership with the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. The Treaty of 1855 guarantees that the tribe has access to traditional harvesting areas on ceded land and the Memorandum of Understanding between the Forest Service and Warm Springs in 1997 was an agreement to encourage growth in these areas.
