the Understory: Spaces Between Us

Each month we read a different book based around nature, justice, and community. This month is:
Spaces between Us: Queer Settler Colonialism and Indigenous Decolonization by Scott Lauria Morgensen

“Explores the intimate relationship of non-Native and Native sexual politics in the United States. Explaining how relational distinctions of “Native” and “settler” define the status of being “queer,” this book argues that modern queer subjects emerged among Natives and non-Natives by engaging the meaningful difference indigeneity makes within a settler society.”

Anyone who has read any portion of this month’s selection (at any point of time) is welcome to join!

This event will be hosted at Bark’s Office at 351 NE 18th Avenue, Portland, OR. 97232. Gender-neutral restrooms will be available.
