Campout Packing List

When you join Bark for a campout, it's essential to come prepared! Here's what to bring.

For a Bark Campout, pack for a standard field day using this packing list, then add these items:

Food & Water
  • Please bring 2-3 liters of water per person per day, PLUS water to cook with. The campsite will have no running water.
  • Electrolyte powder for hot days
  • Quick breakfast meals (we will leave camp at ~9:30am – 10:00am each day so don’t plan elaborate breakfasts; the kitchen can get crowded during that time)
  • Lunches you can pack in your day bag and eat in the field; we will not have access to stoves for heating lunches in field
  • Dinner for yourself (and maybe dessert! Bark will supply a 3-burner stove so everyone can have a hot dinner at camp)
  • Plenty of snacks- surveying burns extra calories!
  • Coffee, tea, hot cocoa or other tasty beverages are always nice
  • Plates, bowls, cups, utensils (Bark will not have enough for everyone so please come prepared with everything you’ll need)
  • A personal cooler to put it all in
  • Extra tupperware for food storage – it always comes in handy!
Clothing
  • Cozy camp clothes (even in summer it can get chilly at night)
  • Camp shoes
  • Extra clothing in case your field day clothing gets wet or especially dirty
  • Swimsuit for campouts happening near swimmable lakes/rivers
  • Check out our detailed clothing considerations here.
Camp Gear, Toiletries, etc.
  • Tent
  • Sleeping pad
  • Sleeping bag
  • Sleeping pad repair kit
  • Rope (helpful for creating a laundry line for wet clothing)
  • Camp chair
  • Personal toiletries including toilet paper (we try to bring enough but we highly recommend bringing your own)
  • Headlamp
  • Entertainment (musical instruments, games, cards and the like are all fun to have around camp!)

Want to camp out with us but don’t have your own gear? Email Jordan Latter or Meg Waller for info on extra gear that Bark may be able to lend you.
