When you join Bark for a campout, it's essential to come prepared! Here's what to bring.
For a Bark Campout, pack for a standard field day using this packing list, then add these items:
Food & Water
- Please bring 2-3 liters of water per person per day, PLUS water to cook with. The campsite will have no running water.
- Electrolyte powder for hot days
- Quick breakfast meals (we will leave camp at ~9:00am each day so don’t plan elaborate breakfasts; the kitchen can get crowded during that time)
- Lunches you can pack in your day bag and eat in the field; we will not have access to stoves for heating lunches in field
- Dinner for yourself (and maybe dessert! Bark will supply a 3-burner stove so everyone can have a hot dinner at camp)
- Plenty of snacks- surveying burns extra calories!
- Coffee, tea, hot cocoa or other tasty beverages are always nice
- Plates, bowls, cups, utensils (Bark will not have enough for everyone so please come prepared with everything you’ll need)
- A personal cooler to put it all in
- Extra tupperware for food storage – it always comes in handy!
Clothing
- Cozy camp clothes (even in summer it can get chilly at night)
- Extra clothing in case your field day clothing gets wet or especially dirty
- Swimsuit for campouts happening near swimmable lakes/rivers
Camp Gear, Toiletries, etc.
- Rope (helpful for creating a laundry line for wet clothing)
- Personal toiletries including toilet paper (we try to bring enough but we highly recommend bringing your own)
- Entertainment (musical instruments, games, cards and the like are all fun to have around camp!)
