Bark Out: Mary S. Young Park

A morning stroll in the forest is the perfect way to start your day. Experience hiking my favorite way… slow. Learn about wild edibles, do some rock hounding, and strive to just be present as we meander through forest on the side of the Willamette River. We will likely focus on the Riverside Loop Trail heading to Cedar Island, but our only goal will be mindfully exploring and learning from each other.

Meet up location: 45.380522, -122.627904

Main parking lot, NOT the off-leash area.

All hike participants will have the opportunity to learn about and discuss the ecology, history, and current social dimensions of the area.

We will spend the day moving through the forest, both on roads and off-trail, walking over uneven terrain, with down logs, and possible ice and snow. We will make numerous stops for discussion, please come prepared to keep yourself warm and comfortable in the weather. Check back for the exact distance closer to the event.
