Support community-centered restoration
As we honor Native American Heritage Month this November, I want to share one of the most meaningful collaborations shaping Bark’s work.
Parrott Creek is leading the restoration of an 80-acre site along the Clackamas River to create a culturally grounded space where Indigenous community members can gather foods and medicines, reconnect with teachings, and practice Traditional Ecological Knowledge with youth. Access to places like this is rare for many Native people living in the Portland area, and supporting this work feels both necessary and long overdue.
Bark’s role is to show up in service of Parrott Creek’s vision. Our volunteers help remove invasive plants, plant culturally important species, maintain trails, and collect ecological data. But more than anything, we aim to approach this partnership with humility, care, and a commitment to learning from Indigenous leadership.

As we continue our Protect Mt. Hood campaign, I hope you’ll support the work we do alongside Parrott Creek. Your gift to Bark directly supports partnerships that expand culturally grounded access to the land and help build a more just, community-centered model of stewardship.
