Nature is Queer Pedalpalooza Bike Ride

ATTENTION: Please note that this ride will take place on July 15th from 6-8 pm. Apologies for any confusion around the date!

Join Bark staff and community to celebrate the inherent queerness of nature!

What is queer ecology?

Queer ecology is a loose interdisciplinary constellation of disciplines and practices that aim to disrupt the prevailing patriarchal, heteronormative assumptions inherent in our views of nature, gender and sexuality. Queer ecology highlights the complexity and diversity of ecosystems, draws important connections between the material and cultural dimensions of environmental issues, and exposes the power dynamics underlying dominant views of sex and nature. It aims to move away from binary, rigid and heteronormative ways of understanding nature towards interdependency and fluidity.

About the bike ride:

We will be meeting at 6pm at Alberta Park and doing a loop through several other local parks, playing fun music and generally having a blast on bike! Costumes, lights, signs and other pizzazz welcome!

No need to register, just meet us in the park 😀
